Oyster

My grandmother’s pearls hang around my neck.

Old and worn.

Fake, but pearls of wisdom.

Grandmother you will never know how much you mean to me

Because I have never told you

Your wise words never escape my thoughts

Timeless, I live by them.

Never assume anything.

Life is unpredictable. I wouldn’t love it if it weren’t

You understand this.

You live by this. Your pains caused by disbelief, unawareness.

Wisdom and a sense of understanding that

Life is full of joys and woe

But we can’t assume this.

Because who knows, Grandmother,

What life may bring.
